Herbs - week two

The herbs have surely grown but they are not yet that thick to be consumed. :D I saw my youngest kid watering it earlier and he put too much I think they drowned...

I removed the excess water immediately but if he has put the water yesterday too then we're doomed.

The water can you can see is something I bought from Ikea when we first transferred to our home in 2004...I also bought one for my mom (sent her along with a box of goodies) and I was so disappointed to learn that it broke 2 months being in use...I think she just didn't took much care of it leaving it outside in the sun and rain...lol...before, I don't really care about those things especially since it's plastic but I realized that you can can keep things tidy and lasting if you properly care for them. The interior designer wannabe in me has been a little more careful with things around the house somehow. ^_^

Don't forget, the clothbag giveaway is still up until Saturday. If you haven't joined yet, you still have 5 days to join in. Thanks to those who have joined, I transferred my blog and I'd really appreciate it if you could change the link to the proper one. ^_^ Sorry, fickle-minded much.

We ♥ Ikea

If there's one unlikely place we enjoy visiting and never mind going around, it's Ikea. The kids enjoy playing pretend...pretending that they are in a different city and identifying each. Here are some of the photos of the setup living rooms and kitchen and the city they associated it with.

This is home mom....not far from how are living room looks but I'd have this one given the chance! ^_^

This is our library mom, and now I'm at our home in the Philippines, says my son.

I bought this glass at a London shop.--  Okaerinasai, okaasan! (Would love to visit Japan soon!)

We still got a lot of these play pretends and they were enjoying themselves...I only got my iphone then, so pardon the blurry shots.

Food of course is something we look forward to. At 2,50€ you get a full meal and unlimited drinks with a range of choices. My younger kids always prefer the pasta menu which includes a bowl of tomato-based pasta, an orange juice and a pudding for dessert.

Little girl prefers the chicken schnitzel which is served with boiled potatoes.

At times we also get their famous dish Köttbular...swedish meatballs served with that yummy gravy and lingonberry jam. It comes with potatoes too that complements the sauce well. This particular dish is something I also cook at home.

For me, the salmon with red pepper on green pasta is the best...the red peppers are so yummy! I have chocolate cupcake for dessert (my kids would get daim cakes or other cupcakes but it's always chocolate for me). I always get their lingonberry juice but I think I won't now after reading a list of the calories that each Ikea food has, you'll find it here. ^_^

Ikea revisited

(I'm loving the Iphone 4's camera; such vivid colors)

I can't remember when was the last time I've been to Ikea. I really missed the place. When my kids were much younger we would go there often to buy some klumpert, really needed kitchen utensils or to simply dine at their famous resto for their reasonably priced food.

Köttbular (Swedish meatballs) served with potatoes, gravy and lingonberry jam (a staple in Scandinavian cuisine) is a family favorite. I'd often cook this at home but have always forgotten were I saved the photos. Now though I don't  really need to cook this dish because Ikea has long ago added a food section where Swedish delicacy, recipes and heat-up meals are sold. They conveniently placed this section just after the packing station.

(Salmon on spinach tagliatelle with red pepper, very soft and yummy muffin and my empty glass)

A friend (Ate M) asked me and another friend (Ate Jo)  to accompany her to Ikea earlier. We went around 3 in the afternoon, all 3 without having eaten lunch. Ate M insisted on paying since she was the one who invited us. ;) She had the Köttbular while Ate Jo and I had  Salmon on spinach tagliatelle and sauce with red pepper. Whoever goes wrong with Salmon? It was perfectly cooked to flaking bits with the red pepper accentuating the tender flavors of both the fish and the sauce.

I also got  me a muffin which was very soft and tasty. It has chocolate oozing from the middle and icing with the right amount of sweetness. I filled my glass with lingonberry juice...perfect for my Ruby Tuesday entry! :) Drinks are refillable so I had cola light after finishing this one.

Ate Jo had a slice of Almondy Daim cake (top left), also a Swedish specialty and another family favorite which I forego today. I can anyway buy them from local grocery stores. Ate M had a lighter version with Golden buttercream (below left) instead of Daim chocolate glazed on top.

So do you think I bought a sofa or a clock or anything red you see in this photo? No...I got a set of cutting boards, in bue and red...potato peelers in blue, a red pillow case and tea candles which were all red too...they have the scent of red berries which I really like! ;) Will post that soon...Enjoy the week!

Practical home furnitures

I really enjoy the show; The World's Greenest Home. I enjoy the designs and the fact that they were made earth-friendly. If you notice too, most of them are designed by owners themselves, mostly architects. I also enjoyed viewing furniture pieces from tv stands, side tables, cabinets, kitchen tops and sets to bathroom accessories, flooring and carpet.

Anyway, here is one of the more amazing videos you'd probably seen already. I mean, we have that sofa bed but theirs is much cooler!
