Smoked Salmon Pasta

It is official, I am a salmon freak...we had this dish 2 days ago and I'd certainly make it often. Aside from being easy to prepare, salmon could be substituted with other stuff such as bacon for carbonara, tuna, green peas and mushroom, and crab and corn too!

INGREDIENTS
smoked salmon, cut into small pieces
6 tablespoons butter
1/2 onion, finely chopped (optional)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 cups milk
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 package farfalle or your preferred pasta

How to:

1. Cook pasta per package directions, drain and set aside.

2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute onion in butter.

3. Stir flour and garlic powder into the butter and onions. Gradually stir in milk.

4. Pour in cheese until the sauce is smooth. Stir well and cook over low heat for a few minutes.

5.Toss in smoked salmon, and cook for 2 more minutes. Serve over pasta. Voila!

You can also serve it with caviar!

Lasang Pinoy Sundays - Finger Foods/Pica pica

This week's theme for Lasang Pinoy Sundays is Pica pica, finger food, perhaps appetizers or simply...food we eat with our hands!

Ham and Cheese sticks

This is my favorite past time food, yes 'past time' even though fried cheese can be high in cholesterol. Back in college, we love having this (sans the ham) along with footlong, sago and gulaman, and waffle on the streets (Dapitan!). I remember clearly it costs 2,50 for 5 pieces!

Vegetable nuggets

A spin-off of Chicken nuggets, I think, I buy this from the store and the kids like munching on them.

----

For the ham and cheese sticks, this is how I prepared it.

stix4 You'll need cheese, ham, lumpia wrapper. One egg, beaten.

stix3 Cut the cheese into thin slices and place it together with the ham inside the wrapper.

stix2 Fold them in like this and when you reach the middle fold the edges so that melted cheese won't come out of the wrapper (this happens a lot!)

stix1 Moisten the edge of the wrapper with egg and close by sticking it together.

Place the rolled ham and cheese sticks in a container and refrigerate before deep frying.

Food Friday - Chicken Pwet!

Yes, those are purely chicken pwet (bishops) fried to perfection and served with vinegar! When I was younger I loathe this part of the chicken, but I learned to love it and would kill to get it when served! =D

This dish is available at DEX 'N MUT Foodhouse at Dona soledad, Better Living Subdivision in Paranaque (arrrggghhh, alt+164 doesnt work here).

They also serve sizzling dishes and breakfast menus.

BULGOGI (marinated grilled beef)

I was chatting with my good friend when she pasted a recipe on our chat window. I was a little confused since we weren't talking about food, she then said it was actually for another friend, but then I thank her since the recipe is Bulgogi, meat that I really like served over rice....

And which I had a few days before at Kyoto Sunrise.

I thought of posting the recipe but since she started her own foodblog, I think we'd see it there. Visit the Weekend Kusinera!
